Freedom of Information - What's it all about?

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 gives anyone access to a wide range of information held by public authorities, including the NHS.

This website is owned by the NHS West Midlands. NHS West Midlands (“NHSWM”) is the Strategic Health Authority for the West Midlands.  It is one of ten strategic health authorities (SHA) created on 1 July 2006 by the government to lead the regional NHS.  We are a key link between the Department of Health and the local NHS.

This section sets out the approach that will be taken by NHSWM to promote openness and transparency and meet its obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  Our policy covers the approach to FOI issues for the SHA.

Important notice

Please note that only FOI requests specifically intended for the Strategic Health Authority for the West Midlands should be made here.

If your FOI request relates to another part of the NHS in this region, then we advise that you contact the relevant NHS body directly (either through its website, by telephone or in writing) to make your request.

The NHSWM aims to make information as freely available to the public as possible.  For details of the main types of information routinely published by NHSWM and where to find it, please click on the link below to see the publication scheme and previous FOI requests. You can make your FOI request through the link below or via this page (see below), which request shall be forwarded on to the NHSWM for processing: Freedom of information
