Your privacy is important to us.  We are committed to protecting your personal information, being transparent about what data we hold and giving you control over how we use it.  The purpose of this privacy policy is to give you a clear explanation about how we use the information we collect from you when you use the NHS local Digital Services.

The term “NHS local Digital Services” covers any NHS local authorised internet services, websites, products and/or software applications that enable you to view, access and use any content that NHS local (or NHS local’s authorised third parties) make available via authorised devices and platforms). We  will use any personal information collected from the NHS local Digital Services in accordance with all laws and regulations relating to the protection of personal data including the Data Protection Act 1998 (the "Data Protection Act"). The information we collect and why:

You can access most of the pages on the NHS local Digital Services without giving us your personal information however you may be required to provide us with your personal information on some pages of the NHS local Digital Services.

  • You register as a member of any of the NHS local Digital Services
  • You provide comments and feedback or participate in discussion forums
  • You contact us with a query or complaint
  • We inform you about changes and improvements to the NHS local Digital Services

Children

We do not and will not knowingly collect information from any unsupervised person under the age of 16.  If you are under the age of 16, you cannot register as a member of the NHS local Digital Services and must not submit any personal data to us.

 

Additional Information collected

Users' Internet Protocol (IP) addresses are automatically logged by our web server and are used by us and our partners to analyse activity on the NHS local Digital Services at an aggregate level (number of visits and geographic optimization etc). They are not cross-referenced with any other information such that an individual person could be identified.

NHS local Learning and its virtual learning environments (VLEs)

Some of the courses appearing in NHS local Learning may contain links to 3rd party sites responsible for those courses. This Privacy Policy does not apply to your use of those sites and we recommend that you review the 3rd party site’s own privacy policy to ascertain how your information is being used.

For users who register to use NHS local Learning and its virtual learning environments (VLE’s), we collect the following data:

 

  • your user name and password
  • your email address
  • your first name and surname
  • your GMC number, if you are a doctor
  • your City/town & Country
  • your Organisation (Trust etc)
  • together with details of your overall course score (including the score broken down into component parts where applicable), whether a pass/fail was achieved and a log of your activity

 

Who will be able to access my data?

Authorised individuals from Maverick Television Limited, its sub-contractors and NHS West Midlands may need to access this data in order to administer the training services for you. 

 

In addition, NHS Trusts and those other health organizations approved by NHS West Midlands to supply educational courses to the NHS local Learning service will have appointed individuals as the authorised representative(s) of the relevant E-learning course which is hosted in the NHS local Learning Service (“Course Representative(s)”).

 

All Course Representatives will have access to (a) user identity (b) GMC number, if you are a doctor and (c) your Trust/organisation regardless of whether a user is registered for that specific course. This is necessary so that as doctors and health professionals move between NHS Trusts as part of their career, that their training can be continually assessed by their new NHS Trust.  Course results e.g. pass/fail and broken down into component parts are only accessible by the relevant Course Representative of that course.

 

Personal Care Planning

 

For users who register to use NHS local Personal Care Planning service, we collect the following User data:

 

1. Username

2. Email address

3. First name

4. Last name

5. Photograph

6. Date of Birth

7. Gender

8. Post code

9. User’s informal support network [friend, family member]

10. User's formal support network [healthcare, gp, and consultant] Organisations involved in the user's care

11. User's clinical /medical information (E.g. symptoms, medications) as provided by patient-provided medical information (non exhaustive list)

 

Who will be able to Access the abovementioned Personal Care Planning Service Data?

 

Maverick and approved subcontractors will be able to access this data for the purposes of providing the Personal Care Planning service. Your GP/health advisor will not have access to this information and will only be able to view it with your express permission. 

 

Use of personal information

We shall only use any personal information you give to us in accordance with this policy and with any additional statements appearing on forms used for submitting your personal information.  We shall not sell any of your personal information nor shall we disclose your personal information to any third parties without obtaining your prior consent unless we are required by law to do so or except to any and third party data processors acting on our behalf who are aware of the legal obligations regarding your personal data.

When you submit any personal information to us we have legal obligations towards you in the way we deal with that data. We must collect the information fairly, that is, we must explain how we will use it and tell you if we want to pass the information to anyone else. By using the NHS local Digital Services you consent to our use of the information as set out in this privacy policy.

If you submit an enquiry

These reports will be based on anonymous data, which means that individuals will not be identified in the reports. We try to respond to all feedback where a valid email address is included. If you make a comment or complaint about other aspects of the service, we may use your details to investigate your comments.

Where we publish a Newsletter and you make a request to receive it (or other updates from the NHS local Digital Services) we shall use your personal information to send it to you by email. If at any time you wish to stop receiving it, please follow the instructions which will appear at the end of the newsletter allowing you to discontinue the service.

 

If you wish to cease being a registered user of the NHS local Digital Services.
