It is vital that diabetes patients get the right information at the right time.
In 2011, John Craven visited the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton to see the various approaches being used to help people learn about diabetes and hopefully encourage them to help themselves to a better quality of life.
A number of patients shared their experiences of diabetes with nurse Jo Wilson who explained the effect of diabetes on the body after eating.
Using a simple metaphor of keys and doors as well as a bright visual aid the nurse explained the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes and how insulin affects the body.
Due for review August 2013
