This is your chance to have your say on the future of what and how much information is publicised in the NHS...

Over the course of the next five weeks NHS local is hosting a series of live web chats.

It is an opportunity for you to put your questions directly to local healthcare professionals and experts.

  • What will happen to my questions and comments?

The purpose of these web chats is to provoke discussion. The comments and other issues raised will provide a valuable insight into people’s views. The feedback will be reviewed in the context of the Information Revolution consultation .

  • Will comments be moderated?

Yes, but only to ensure that defamatory or obscene comments are not published.

  • Do I have to join for the whole session?

No just join for as much of the discussion as you want to.

  • Can I view the other comments without making any of my own?

Yes

The first of the web chats will be held on Tuesday (November 30) and will be on the subject of information for patients, carers and the public.

It will be led by a dynamic health care professional who is passionate about improving the way patients access information.

Tuesday, December 7: Information for improved outcomes
 
A prominent public health specialist will be leading discussion about how the NHS can really improve the way it collects and uses information to improve health.
 
Tuesday, December 14: Information for professionals
 
A Health Visitor who really understands about the power of information to improve the way professionals work and learn in the NHS.
 
Tuesday, January 4 (2011): Information for autonomy, accountability, and democratic legitimacy
 
An expert who believes the NHS needs to make information easier to understand and interpret, so it can be used by everyone to judge the quality of services.
 
Tuesday, January 11 (2011) Setting the direction Adam Drury, National Chair of the Association of Health and Social Care Informatics Leads.
